Taste: Discover the expertly crafted W.L. Weller Special Reserve Bourbon, a distinguished wheat bourbon aged meticulously in New American white oak barrels at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Part of a distinguished lineage, this bourbon showcases the legacy of William Larue Weller. Aged 7-8 years, it shares its Mash Bill #2 heritage with other esteemed bourbons like Pappy Van Winkle and Blanton's. This sour mash blend, featuring corn, malted barley, and extra rye, offers a smooth and mellow experience, with distinctive grainy notes and a delicate sweetness of caramel. On the palate, savor the harmonious layers of honey, butterscotch, and a soft woody undertone. The finish is elegantly smooth, leaving a sweet honeysuckle impression.

History: The legacy of this award-winning bourbon traces back to the 1740s, when the Weller family began their distilling journey. Settling in Kentucky in the late 18th century, Daniel Weller acquired a distillery in Nelson County. After his service in the Mexican-American war, William Larue Weller returned to Kentucky, bringing innovative changes to the family business. In 1849, he introduced the first wheat-based bourbon, diverging from the traditional rye, resulting in a softer, more gentle flavor profile. The popularity of Weller's bourbon led to its distinctive green thumbprint mark as a symbol of authenticity. The brand's storied history continued with notable figures like Pappy Van Winkle, who eventually formed the Stitzel-Weller Distillery. Today, Buffalo Trace maintains the Weller tradition, continuing to produce this esteemed bourbon with a recipe closely aligned with its historic origins. Is Weller Special Reserve allocated? Yes, it is highly coveted for its exceptional quality and rich heritage.
